Very high quality - but not iPhone compatible September 1, 2008 LegallyBlonde (California) I purchased this primarily for use at an outdoor event for about three hundred people thinking that, once the event was over, I'd keep it for use as an outdoor speaker system by our pool or for outdoor movie nights. And, for the most part, it worked extremely well and I was very happy with it. First, it was portable. I'm not particularly strong but I had no trouble whatsoever moving it around, loading it in the car, and setting it up. Second, the sound quality was great. I plugged in my iPod video and, despite the open air acoustics and the PA's small size, the music sounded great even up to 100 yards away. Third, it did a great job of projecting my voice (again, with poor acoustics in the open air area) and the voice of the other speakers. Fourth, the battery life was AMAZING. Lasted through a four hour gathering AND charged my iPod for most of the event. Fifth, it was versatile. I have used it in my backyard, as a stereo in my uncle's home (no iPod adaptor there), and at a pool party. Not too loud for indoors, intrepid enough for outside, and again, very light and great battery life. And yet, I still returned it. Why? Sadly, it is not compatible with the iPhone 3G (and, I assume, the iPhone and iPod Touch) and I didn't want to purchase an item that was already outdated. To be clear, the PA did play music from the iPhone, when I turned the iPhone's cellular radio off, but it did NOT charge the iPhone (which, to me, is critical when a device drains energy like the iPhone does) and my iPhone flashed such a huge warning every time I plugged it into the PA system that, ultimately, I thought I should look for a system that will work with all of my iPhones on a going forward basis. So I would give this five stars if you don't have the same paranoia that I do about having fully updated electronics. For now, though, I'll be eagerly watching for an updated Ion PA that is made to work with the iPhone/ iPod touch.
AWESOME 5 STARS! July 21, 2008 S. Blum 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This item is AWESOME! I give it 5 STARS! It came fully charged and I have been using it for 3 weeks on the initial charge! Sound quality is great and it is loud! I use it in an open field at a summer camp and it is awesome for announcements, music or karaoke! I love it! Definitely recommend!
No sound. July 20, 2008 Magmiles 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this item because of good reviews. However, the one I got had no sound when you plugged the microphone which should be plug and play. I returned and got another one but I had the same problem. I called the manufacturer and it was verified there was technical issues. I do not know if it is just a fluke but both of items I got were defective. Needless to say I do not have one now.
Well thought out July 10, 2008 K. Glastad 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Really well engineered. Tough. Being able to charge the ipod is a nice touch, so your source of music does not run out of power before the amp runs out. I bought this as a gift for a friend in Norway. It charges on 120v and 220v. Quality build. Pretty good microphone included. Brings music and PA to places you might not otherwise think of, great battery capacity, and very decent sound.
Lived up to expectations May 27, 2008 Andrew J. Pica (Middletown NJ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Great for outside parties. I originally bought it to play the drums to. Doesn't have enough sub woofer to really hear it above the drums but still a very nice amp. Ipod connection is key. It also charges the Ipod at the same time. Can run for hours on one charge. Very heavy!! Overall its perfect for outside parties or inside karaoke. Not enough power and bass for heavy metal music rock bands with drums.
