With the Belkin Easy Transfer Cable, upgrading to a new computer has never been easier. It offers a quick way to transfer your files and settings from your old computer to a new one. Does not work as directed. br /Buy a couple of flash drives and download your files to them. br /Much easier,cheaper and you have something usefull when you're done.

Bad product-no mention on box it cannot transfer to 64 bit system. After talking to India about this was so informed.Stay away

This is a combination of Belkins cable and Microsoft's Easy Transfer program. br / br /The cable is great. br /Microsoft's Easy Transfer worked pretty good. It did a very good job of transferring documents and settings from my XP laptop to my new vista laptop. Only a couple of problems: br /-The Norton firewall programs running on the to PCs prevented the transfer from working. Easy enough fix, temporarily turned off the firewall software. br /-The Easy Transfer software stopped working on the Vista PC because of the buffer overflow error on the new laptops' touch-pad driver. Weird, but again an easy enough fix, ended the touch pad program and used the mouse instead. Closed other unnecessary programs to be on the safe side. br / br /Once the transfer was complete, I checked everything out and found a couple of things: br /-about 95% of the transfer was perfect br /-slight problem with Outlook, My Outlook configuration is very complex, multiple profiles each with multiple email account and most of those have multiple data files associated. One Outlook data file didn't transfer because it was in a weird location on the old PC. Which leads to... br /-Files not under documents and settings don't transfer such as br /---one of my outlook data files at the root of the C drive br /---Quickbooks data files that were in the Programs folder br /-One of the printers settings didn't transfer right, again an easy fix br / br /In summary: br /The cable and software do a good job, just remember: br /-close unnecessary programs, specially the firewalls br /-files in not in documents and settings need to be done manually. If I took the time to choose those additional files rather than just use the default in the Easy Transfer software, they probably would have transfered just fine. br /-I installed the programs (office, quickbooks, etc.) on the new vista PC prior to the transfer. I was concearned about trying to transfer programs from on PC to another. I liked the idea just tranfering documents and settings. br /-The cable come with other programs that allow you link any PCs to manually transfer files. br /

The product works as advertised. I had to restart twice, but the third time, everything went well. A great way to transfer needed files, as well as browser pref's and favorites. br /

Only works when you want to copy files from an older PC to a Vista PC. It even asks you if you want to transfer from the newer PC but it doesn't work!
