5 out of 5 stars Still Heartwarming and Helpful After All These Years   January 2, 2009
Sherry Morris
I used to love reading magazines before the turn of the century, when we got a PC and the World Wide Web sucked me in. Lately I've been disgusted with how much time I spend "surfing" nothing much and waiting for content to load. In a quest to recapture a kinder, gentler, simpler, happier time in my life, I've been stepping away from the computer and flipping open magazines. br / br / br /I've read Woman's Day ever since I can remember, with the exception of 1999 through 2007 when I didn't subscribe to anything but two newspapers which my husband reads. Yep, I've stopped reading the newspaper too. The old one eyed monster on my lap had me in a stupor. br / br / br /We have a new treadmill and I'm doing a thirty minute training session on weekdays, while reading magazines. I read the january 2009 issue of Woman's Day two days in a row. It worked out perfectly, cover to cover. I will say it seems thinner than I remember, but I used to be thinner so maybe everything is relative. br / br / br /This month's topics include: br /How to Cut Medical Costs br /Deals discounts! Save big Bucks on almost Everything br /Special Health Issue 215 Ways to Be Healthier br /Organize your Way to Calm br /Good-for-You Food 42 Recipes and Tips br /Eat Dessert, Carbs Snacks and Drop Lbs. br /Guilt-Free Desserts br / br / br /I loved the pictures and short informative articles. The older I get, the less patience I have to read long passages. This suits the impatient little kid in me very well. I will be trying the frozen canned pears pureed with ginger recipe. br /I give Woman's Day five stars.

5 out of 5 stars I Love Woman's Day   October 26, 2008
D. Dorsey (The South, USA)
I love Woman's Day Magazine. It's quite similar to Family Circle but you get 17 issues of Woman's Day compared to Family Circle's 15 issues in a year's subscription and Woman's Day is a little cheaper so you get more for your money with Woman's Day. br / br /The magazine is filled with articles, recipes, and tips, all geared towards the interests of women and family. I really enjoy receiving around the holidays because it has so many beautiful pictures, tips and gift-giving ideas. You will find a recipe, tip or article in every issue that you will want to save. br / br /I also like that Woman's Day is not completely consumed with advertisements like a lot are. br / br /Definitely recommend. br /

I just received my first copy yesterday and I must say how disapointed I am in Womans Day. I subscribed years ago and the magazine has changed so much. I don't really like the new one.

3 out of 5 stars It's ok ...   February 11, 2008

Although the magazine is reasonably priced (at $2.79, it's one of the cheapest mags on the market), the content is primarily geared for middle of the road, suburban American housewives trying to save a second here and a second there. I, as a single city gal, just gloss over all the articles dealing with children because I simply can't relate to the material. br / br /The main reason why I bother with Woman's Day is for the recipes. They have hits and misses, but the dishes I have clipped and saved in the past have turned out very tasty. There are also interesting articles from time to time on various aspects of running a household, but, for real, much of what they feature is common sense. br / br /My biggest gripe with this magazine is the number of drug ads. For the May 4, 2008 issue alone, there were 14 drug ads (one of which was a drug specifically for children!) - all of which were placed in the front of the magazine and were two pages long on average (one ad was three pages). Surely, there must be better ad revenue to tap into for American magazines. It was *very* annoying to be reading an article and have to skip over two pages because of said ads. br / br /Woman's Day is on the level with Good Housekeeping and like magazines - interesting articles from time to time, but better off read at the library. - Donna Di Giacomo

Woman's Day has always been a truly good women' magazine. I'm very happy with delivery, too. They have articles that every woman can relate to at one time or another.
