4 out of 5 stars Library Chair serves purpose   July 21, 2007
Look4Lucy (Tennessee)
I needed some sort of step stool to reach cd's and books on a top shelf and the Library chair works perfectly. It is very solid and easily and quickly converts from a chair to a step stool. I opted for the white one which is painted nicely and even. When converted to a step stool there are only 4 steps and the top 2 you cannot stand on so it is not very high if you need to reach very tall places but for a little boost this serves multiple purposes.

5 out of 5 stars Useful double-duty chair   April 2, 2007

We're using this chair as a desk chair in our daughter's room, which also means we've got a handy and safer step-stool to get things down from the top shelf in the closet, etc. It arrived quickly in a chair-shaped box, requiring no assembly. We've found it to be both sturdy and handy.

5 out of 5 stars Unique and useful   February 21, 2007

I purchased this Michael Scott Library Chair in the Antique Oak color after shopping around. This was the best deal. It is useful, attractive and unique. It is very easy to use and serves many purposes.

5 out of 5 stars practical beauty   February 8, 2007

This modern take on Ben Franklin's ingenious design is a definite winner. It is functional, very easy to use (it converts from chair to step stool in a minute), and it looks great. Made from high quality wood with a nice antique finish, this chair is definitely a conversational piece. Buy with confidence--and Amazon has the lowest price on the Web.

2 out of 5 stars I like the concept, but   January 19, 2007

The idea of having a ladder readily available in a room while disguised as a chair appeals to me, but there's a bit of a problem with this ladder. It says not to use the top 2 steps, which basically puts you back to close to the height of the seat of the chair. So if you only use it as recommended, you could just stand on the the seat of any regular chair without the extra weight of the "ladder" part. I received this item very quickly, but it's not the best construction. The vertical pieces of the chair back separated from the 3 horizontal pieces, cracking the white paint, and making it a little wobbly. I chose to glue it back together rather than try to package it back up to return it.
