Our small bureau top jewelry box is fashioned from solid rosewood. Native to southern regions of Asia, rosewood is a hard, beautifully veined wood that has been prized throughout the East by Emperors and the populace at large for centuries. A rosewood tree, while a relatively fast grower, can reach heights over 100 feet, and is naturally termite resistant. The leaves and flowers are reputed to have medicinal properties, including fighting tumor growth. The wood's durability and fine grain make it a natural for high end furniture, cabinetry and musical instruments. All our rosewood furnishings are crafted in traditional methods using dove tailing and interlocking construction to create a quality production without nails or screws. The interior of this jewelry box is lined in luxurious Chinese brocade fabric (colors vary). There are slots for ring cradleing and a removable tray for tiered storage. The decorative brass element on the lid is an ancient Chinese symbol for longevity.
