5 out of 5 stars Works great for potatoes!   December 9, 2008
Robert J. Kickbush (Buffalo, NY)
This product works just like the commercial potato peeler I used to use at a restaurant I worked at. It's just smaller. It peels the potatoes with no mess and actually makes mashed potatoes easy to make! If you peel potatoes even once a month, you can't go wrong with this device!

I don't know how it works for potatoes, I bought it for use on apples. It does not work well on apples. By the time it finishes with peeling the apple the fruit is banged up badly. Even then only half the skin is removed.

I like this very much. It does a pretty good job. It doesn't get everything as you have to remove the 'eyes' yourself if there are any. I just got mine this spring and the potatoes I used were old, wrinkled and hard to peel. It did a great job anyway. I think with newer potatoes it would be almost perfect. br /The only problem I see is that it jumps all over the counter and is very noisy. You cannot leave it and need to keep your hands on it for the full 4 minutes. But, if you hate to hand-peel potatoes, this is the quickest and best way to do it. br /I also used the lettuce spinner. That worked excellent and only took a few seconds to dry the amount I had put in it. I have used a manual spinner for years as I always have a garden in summer and need to wash my lettuce well before using. This is going to be a real time-saver this summer.
