Product Description Chicago Cutlery, MagnaSharp, Magnetic Mouse Knife Sharpener, Sharpens Scissors Or Knives, Innovative, Quick, Easy Safe, Convenient Magnetic Back For Easy Storage, Compact, Unique, Comfortable, Mouse Shaped Design, Ceramic Stone, Can Be Used By Both Right Left Handed People.
Amazon.com Review When used regularly, all knives need regular maintenance to keep blades sharp and to prolong life. While a standard steel like the ones that come with a block set will polish a knife edge, true sharpening actually helps create a new edge by taking off a bit of metal. This is a tricky process to master, and done wrong, it can actually wear down blades before their time. Chicago Cutlery's MagnaSharp Mouse removes the guesswork from knife sharpening by controlling the angle of exposure to the ceramic rods inside. Featuring an exterior made from durable molded plastic, its playful design combines the ergonomic ease of a computer mouse with simple, safe pull-through technology. Simply slide any fine-edged knife or scissor blade through the sharpening slot while applying a slight downward pressure; repeated three to five times, this process re-aligns and sharpens even dull edges to like-new condition. Because the sharpening rods are on the inside, they can't be damaged when not in use. The MagnaSharp mouse is compact enough to fit in even a crowded drawer, but it also features a magnetic back for easy storage on the refrigerator, stove, or wherever you keep and use your knives. It works equally well for either left- or right-handed use. The Mouse is covered by a lifetime guarantee and is not recommended for use with serrated or scalloped edges. I--Mary Park/I

Satisfactory May 6, 2007 K. Rondum (Maryland USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Seems to do a better job with some knives than others. It is easy to hold with elderly hands (smile). I recommend it for ease of use and comfortable to handle. br / br /The magnetic back makes it easy to keep close without cluttering the kitchen counter.
easy to use April 10, 2007 moogie (california) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful

pull through sharpners and how to use them February 17, 2007 Sharron Hiwale (arkansas) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
i do not currently own this one, though i like the magnet idea. what most people who get these and have problems do not relise is that you DO have to hold the knife correctly AND you must apply the correct pressure.those of us who know the OLD way or just cook alot know this applys to iron sharpning. br / br /if you own an electric sharpner you simply pull or stick it in(acording to the make) and the machen dose the rest. with this type of sharpner you MUST hold the knife straight up and push as if you were cuting a tomato(enouph to cut but not crush)and pull it through.depending on how dull your blade is and how hard the edge is will depend on how many pulls this requires.DO NOT OVER SHARPEN YOUR BLADE!this will make the edge too thin and little bits will break off and ragged edges to apper in your knife, that will make it harder to get a good clean cut. hope this is helpful.
Sharpens okay but could be better February 13, 2007 Floridasunshine (holycow) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The sharpener is easy to hold. Since my knives were completely dull I was able to see right away the difference in sharpness. It does seem to sharpen fine, but probably not as well as an electric sharpener. I like the fact that it is a magnet and attaches to the refrigerator. The blade 'lock' does not work well though. I would like for it to have more of a secure feeling when i am sharpening my knives. I am always afraid that the blade thing will slip when I am sharpening and that I could cut myself. But as far as the price and sharpening ability, it seems to get the job done.
