Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Diafold Ceramic Serrated Knife Sharpener was developed from the famous DMT Diafold diamond sharpener models that have become part of everyman s cutlery maintenance program. The ceramic version offers a 4. 43 in. Cone-shaped sharpener and DMT s practical, self-stowing, folding design. It is remarkably light--only 1 ounce. Oversize: NO.

Amazon.com Review
Many cooks regularly hone their straight blades but have never been taught how to maintain serrated knives at home. This compact sharpener is made of ceramic, one of the least abrasive knife sharpening materials available, and gently polishes serrations to extend the period of time before they require professional sharpening. The 4-inch-long, narrow, cone-shaped steel measures 1/2 inch around at the base and whittles down to 1.5 centimeters at the end. Cooks fit the steel into the serration until the diameter matches the size of the serration. Then, with a few light back-and-forth strokes, cooks polish the edge on each serration individually. For portability, this sharpener has folding plastic handles that completely encase the ceramic surface in a 5-inch-long sheath, making it easy for restaurant workers to carry in a knife case or home chefs to tote along to cooking club. The durable ceramic blade won't break or wear down over time and its nonporous properties make it easy to hand wash with mild soap and water. This innovative product was awarded iBlade/I Magazine's Accessory of the Year Award in 2003 and is covered by DMT under a full replacement policy if it is found to have any defects in workmanship. I--Cristina Vaamonde/I

It's ceramic, therefore it will sharpen any steel and very useful for the serrated knives. Only issue is, is that anytime i open it, i am afraid i'll break it br / br /Good price, good product, flimsy overall design

This item really does the job of sharpening serrated knives; although the process is very tedious the results are worth it.
