1 out of 5 stars Huge Design Flaw   July 17, 2008

If you will notice on the bottom right side of the photo there is a see-through chamber to see how much water you've poured in. Great idea. Poor execution. After just one use of this steamer I washed it, dried it, and put it away. The next time I went to use it, I had a very thick layer of mold growing in the see-through chamber. If you live in a humid place, better take a pass on this steamer. There is no way to get inside the steamer and fully dry it out as it is a sealed compartment aside from a small hole that will let water in and out. This is a huge design flaw. So, after one use and a chamber full of mold that I was not able to remove, I ended up dumping this steamer in the trash can.

5 out of 5 stars Great for baby food   July 6, 2008

Before we had our daughter, this was great for quick, healthy meals. Now I use this steamer on a daily basis. I steam veggies for our 10 month old daily and feel good about giving her fresh, healthy, easy to prepare fruits, veggies, and poultry. I even have several friends buying it now, too. I highly recommend it!

5 out of 5 stars Dinner is done in 20 minutes!   May 9, 2008
KD (Madison, WI USA)
I bought this steamer (in black) about a month ago and couldn't be happier. I've never owned one before but find that it is so easy to use. I love to pick up a small fish fillet from the deli and then put broccoli or cauliflower in the top compartment. Fresh shrimp and fresh mushrooms are AMAZING in this steamer. You can literally set the timer, walk away and come back to a finished dinner. Things have come out perfect every time. Excellent value for the price.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great   March 28, 2008

I purchased this for my wife for Christmas (Ya, I know. You don't have to tell me). Actually, she really wanted one and was happy to receive it for a gift.We have used it a lot for steaming vegitables and rice and are very happy with how it works. We are a family of four, and this steams plenty of vegitables for all of us. I have no regrets with purchasing this item or giving it as a gift. Now, I just have to decide what to get her next Christmas...

2 out of 5 stars Mold   March 7, 2008

This product would have been one step up from the previous generation of Oster steamers if it weren't for one very major flaw. br / br /Good Points: br / br /-it's inexpensive br /-the electronic timer works really well (this was the new upgrade from previous models) br /-it's versatile especially for Asian cooking br /-it works really fast br / br /Bad Points: br / br /- MOLD the steamer's water inlet, that also serves to help you measure how much water is in the steamer, is a great way to collect mold. Currently it is nearly impossible to dry this inlet completely without pushing a qtip or tissue through, and no turning it upside down doesn't help since the inlet's curves are designed to keep water in - which is really stupid. br / br /Oster should spend more time testing their products. This should have been fixed before being released.
