5 out of 5 stars Rectangular Stone is Fantastic   June 21, 2008

The rectangular stone is one of the best baking sheets I have ever owned. I am amazed how clean it washes with no soap whatsover. Just put it in hot water and used the nylon scraper tool included and every bit of food comes off. The key to proper use is making sure that the first time you use the stone you oil it well to coat the stone to help food come off easily. Then subsequent times oil it lightly and you will find you will season your stone and it will never stick. As far as it exploding, I have never heard of one exploding but I know that the Pampered Chef will certainly replace it because they are very good about that. I just love my pan.

1 out of 5 stars Yikes! It exploded!   March 9, 2008

It is entirely possible that our stone was defective from the factory. When we used it the first time (for a loaf of sourdough) the thing shattered into pieces about five minutes into the bake. I sent an email to the pampered chef to see about getting a replacement (we bought ours through a pampered chef party). Hopefully they will make good on it and this will be a one time occurrence. br / br /Also, in looking around online a bit, pampered chef stones seem to have a bit of a reputation for exploding. br / br /I should mention that our stone looked slightly different from this one. Instead of metal handles, ours had handles formed from the same stone material. I wouldn't think that that would make a difference.

I've had my stone for about a year now and use it multiple times a week. We cook everythign from chicken strips and fries to pizza and cookies on it, nothing EVER sticks, and it doesn't transmit flavors between foods. Also the clean up proceedure is the easiest ever, you just run hot water over it and scrape it off w/ the supplied scraper, thats it. Awesome item for any kitchen be it the advanced chef or bachelor that lives off frozen pizzas :)
