5 out of 5 stars Lodge Enameled Cast-Iron 3 QT Dutch Oven, Island Spice   November 2, 2008
Joanne G. Browne (Ivoryton, CT USA)
Totally love this product. Color is fantastic and I've made some great recipes in this dutch oven. Recommend it and give it 100% rating! br /It's not the biggest dutch oven out there, but for smaller quanties, this fits the bill. PS I also have the bigger size one too in the same color and also love it!

5 out of 5 stars This pan is wonderful   November 2, 2008

This pan is wonderful. I use it every day: for frying, stewing, etc. I love cast iron but I want a pan I can soak.

4 out of 5 stars Heats Well, But Stains Easily   August 26, 2008

Well, I wanted to believe these would be as good as it's French Competition. It heats well, that's fine, but I find that food sticks, and it stains very easily. I always have to use a scour pad after use to get it looking clean.

I've been using dutch ovens for a long time - I cook with them regularly. So when I saw this one I was eager to try it, especially given its price. I am happy to report that I've used it many times, and it has been perfect for our family's needs. Quality product, heavy and well designed. I'm thinking about buying several for Christmas presents.

4 out of 5 stars Lodge 3 qt. Dutch oven   July 15, 2008

MON 14JUL08 br / br /1) am not a professional food preparation person, nor am I exactly "chef material"--if you get my drift. br /2) know what I like; own some Calphalon, Le Creuset, et al. "high-end" cookware. br /3) like to compare/contrast/look around--from time-to-time, in re: new/other products. br /4) Lodge appears to be a viable product. br /5) the difference between a sharp knife a dull one isn't much--in terms of metal, but is a lot in terms of efficacy. You pay a lot more for just a little more; but it's that "little more" than can achieve the results that you like so much. br /With these thoughts, please proceed. br /Rec'd Lodge 3 qt. enameled Dutch oven today. My "issue" is that the lid does not fit tightly-- that's by design--something no previous review indicated. The lid has three cast ~1/16" standoffs @ "noon", "4" "8" which are designed to allow the hot cooking gases, vapors liquids to escape freely, rather than build-up until enough pressure is generated to lift the cast-iron lid--or to "surprise" the lid-liftee; that is, unless the cook is tuned-in to what is happening, i.e. cooking, actually tends to her/his business. br /Personally, I want to have control over those things under my control. I do NOT want to be protected from myself. Le Creuset French (Dutch?) ovens have FLAT rims recesses. Yes, just like on your car radiator, the temperature will increase w/ the pressure it is easier to scorch burn--but also faster to cook (as in a pressure cooker) when the interior pressure is elevated. br /For me, a tight-fitting lid is what I want. Lodge has a higher-end line (maybe more than one). Not taking the time this yr. to purchase, use review. br /Oh yes, BTW: Le Creuset does not make a 3 qt. enameled cast iron oven. No disrespect to Lodge, but it looks like I've talked myself into a Le Creuset purchase--again.
