Amazon.com Review Accurate to a tenth of a degree, this Pyrex digital thermometer takes the guesswork out of cooking by temperature. Made with a durable stainless-steel probe, the tool has an easy-to-read display that delivers readings from -50 to 392 F (-45 to 200 C) with a one-second delay. The plastic storage case doubles as a perpendicular holder so you can keep your fingers away from the heat source. It also includes an apron clip and a basic temperature guide for cooking meat. Simple buttons turn the power on and off and switch between Fahrenheit and Centigrade. Pyrex includes an extra battery. --Emily Bedard

This is a superior product. It is easy, repeat easy, to use and to read. It is the best meat thermometer we have ever had.
Pyrex makes some of the best most affordable products! January 13, 2006 K. Andrews 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This thermometer is excellent, especially at it's very low price. I know some others are complaining that 3-5 seconds is not instant.. but, what about instant oatmeal? That takes 3-5 minutes. Instant just means you will get the temp within a few seconds rather than a few minutes. Works great, don't get it wet.
Best amazon purchase I ever made November 15, 2005 M. Mills (california) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I use this all the time, normally forget to turn it off, and still have not even used up the 1st battery. It came with an extra. I never had good luck with instant thermometers before, and the kind you leave in get dirty and unreadable. I admit, I have never dropped it in water, but I have had no trouble and have had it for 2 years.
Accurate but a display issue. October 31, 2004 Jeffrey S. Alek (Annandale, VA) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Very accurate thermometer. However I do not think it has an automatic cut off regarding power. Mine is now useless as far as display, I think the battery has gone dead. If a calculator has an automatic turn off mechanism, why not this?
Works as Advertised May 18, 2004 Robert A. Drensek (Huntsville, AL USA) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Instant is not quite accurate, but if your willing to wait 3-5 second, it will give you a reading. I checked it against the tap water (hot & cold) and it appeared to be accurate. Postive features: * Provided 2 batteries in the package * Quick reaction time to final temp * Was able to fit the second battery inside the case * The protective sleeve doubles as a holder (holes in the side take the probe so holde is perpendicular to the probe)Overall, slick, fast, good price. Down side, I thought instant read meant instant read, to me that is 1 second or less. Oh well.
