didn't hold up September 26, 2008 jmt (new york) I bought the 8 cup about 6 months ago. The coffe was good and I'll not go back to drip. The problem was I dropped it and didn't realize the plastic cracked. I kept rinsing it out after each use( I never submerged it)and about a week later it quit. I took it apart and found water had gotten into it. I dryed and cleaned it, fixed the crack, but it still won't heat up. I can't send it in for warranty because I dropped it. I thought it should have held up better for $50.00.I will buy a different brand.
Did you ever BOIL EGGS in the coffeepot......seriously? July 23, 2008 Rizzo (Denver, CO) 0 out of 4 found this review helpful
Yes, I did it! Without the gas stove one day, I put 3 eggs in the water for over an hour and half, and whoooola! The eggs boiled in the hot water. I just plugged and unplugged a few times for fresh heat. It is rare that I see people using these Farberware coffeemakers, and for some reason they are stuck with those dreadful Mr. Coffee-type-things. This is a percolator, meaning it brews coffee OR, simply use it as a drip coffee maker. Either way, it works great! And it just takes minutes. But I love these coffeepots, mainly because the coffee comes out nice and hot! That's right the coffee is hot, and it stays hot. You don't have to worry about warm coffee here. You can leave it plugged and it will maintain the heat for long time. Unfortunately there isn't a light indicator that states the pot is still plugged. The innards! The pot comes with the innards, the stem, and coffee holder and the lid over the coffee holder. I use a standard filter, poke a hole with the stem and within minutes, the aroma of good hot coffee. I have had a few and will always use a Farberware coffeepot!....Rizzo
Farberware electric percolator July 6, 2008 Helena Moran 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product has definitely lost its quality. We had a Farberware percolator that lasted 15 years. It finally quit and we bought a new one expecting the same quality. The new one lasted less than 18 months. Customer service department was not helpful. It makes great coffee. But considering its cost and short life span, it's not worth it. I will not buy a Farberware electric percolator again.
HOT COFFEE July 1, 2008 Ruth M. Capolino (Philadelphia, PA) Hello, wand a delicious, STEAMING cup of coffee? Buy this Farberware percolator, and you'll think you're at the local coffee cafe. Excellent, I looked very long because I do not like the current offering of coffee makers. This electric perk takes care of coffee for my family of 3.
Great while it lasts! June 15, 2008 Beth Sells (Colorado Springs, CO) We purchased our most recent Farberware percolator to replace one that no longer perked long enough (it lasted 4 years). We have used this same model coffee maker for probably 30 years (since Corning quit making their porcelain model). We have owned @ 8 through the years. and since first trying Farberware, have not used any other brand. However, with each new percolator, we have found that their life gets shorter. This latest machine quit this morning, after less than year of service. They make a great cup of rich coffee while they last but they are no longer the reliable appliance they once were. We're going to try a Cuisinart and hope for the same great flavor of perked coffee plus greater reliability.
