Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
Sleek and contemporary, this gleaming percolator brews from four to eight cups of coffee on the stovetop for full, old-fashioned flavor. A permanent filter basket (no messy paper filters needed) provides modern efficiency. The handle is synthetic (to stay cool) and slightly textured, a combination ensuring safe, comfortable pouring. Because the percolator is made of highly polished 18/10 stainless steel, the beauty of its gleaming mirror finish is long-lasting. To fully maintain the finish, the percolator should be hand washed, although the filter basket and glass cap can go into the dishwasher. The percolator stands 8-1/2 inches high on a 6-1/4-inch-diameter base. I--Fred Brack/I

Product Description
If you grew up in the 1940's and 1950's, it's more likely you saw a coffee percolator like this one on your parents' stovetop. The origins of the percolator go back to about 1818 in France. Prior to that, coffee was made in vacuum pots or was boiled. By the middle to late 1800's travelers immigrating to the United States from Europe brought these percolators with them. Many of these pots made coffee for families that used wood stoves on their journey westward. This Farberware model follows that classic design but is made of stainless steel. It's easy to use, clean, and maintain. You can expect years of quality service from this coffee maker. Farberware has added a stay-cool handle to help make pouring a lot easier. It truly is a classic refined.

4 out of 5 stars Great percolator for the price   November 11, 2008
Ashley Head (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
This is a good value for the price. It is large, of good quality and it makes good coffee. It does take awhile to heat the water (maybe this is just my stove but I don't think so) so brewing a pot often takes me 10 minutes or so but I just turn it on and continue with what I'm doing. It is lightweight, looks nice on the stove and can make a large quantity of coffee. I think next time I'll get an electric one but this works great for me

5 out of 5 stars What a nice coffee smell!   November 4, 2008
Jinhwa Choi (Baltimore, MD USA)
This is my first time to try the classical coffee percolator. The reason I bought this old fashioned item is I don't want to use the paper filter any more for environment. This percolater is very easy to use. Also, every morning my little apartment use to fill with nice coffee smell!

4 out of 5 stars Stovetop Percolator Makes a Good Old Cup of Coffee   September 5, 2008
Carson Gregory
This stainless percolator is nicely finished and well designed. It is easy to clean and perks a cup of coffee like that rich black brew my parents made. The stainless steel is less fragile than the aluminum models, does not require "seasoning" as they did, does not contaminate the coffee, and can be thoroughly cleaned without losing the "seasoning." br / br /Faberware could work on quality control a bit. The one I got has an ever-so-slightly crooked plastic dome, and I was mildly alarmed when washing it out for the second time, I found a quantity of "goop" under the top rim of the pot. I believe the substance to be the polishing compound typically used in mirror finishing. Though I have suffered no ill effects, this stuff should have been removed at the factory. If you buy one, scrub it out completely before use. br / br /Overall, for old duffers like me, who want to again enjoy that familiar brewed flavor, this is a great coffee pot. It is fairly priced and I recommend it. And who knows, maybe we can show some of those who've never had REAL coffee why we aren't that impressed with Starbucks!

5 out of 5 stars Smell the Aroma...   August 31, 2008
A. Serrantonio (New York, NY)
This is DEFINITELY what I was looking for and for a great price! Looked everywhere... all the major Dept. Stores... and of course, I wound up at Amazon who always seems to have what I'm looking for! If you want the taste and smell of coffee that way it used to be (or like walking into Starbucks) this is the one to get. There are more expensive ones, but this does the same job and the quality is just as good. Very satisfied... my electric maker is sitting on the side, hoping to be used again. Great product for an equally great price that you can't beat!

1 out of 5 stars Unusable out of the box   August 29, 2008
DLP (New York)
For some reason, the handle was wrapped separately from the pot. There's a screw in the handle, but no hole in the pot for a screw so I can actually attach it. Am I supposed to drill a hole and hope the screw is long enough? Don't think so -- this item will be returned tomorrow.
