Product Description From the design team at Oxo, a set of measuring cups, angled so you can now see how much liquid is inside without having to bend over and view from the side. The measurement levels sit at an angle so you can easily read them as you look downwards. For those who have a hard time breaking old habits, you can also read the measurement from the side - they're also labeled there. Durably made with a soft, cushioned handles.
Amazon.com Review With a simple design alteration, OXO has revolutionized a seemingly ordinary kitchen staple, making it doubtful that you'll ever go back to using a conventional measuring cup again. Each of the three cups in the set has a patented angled surface within the cup so you can measure out liquid ingredients while looking straight down into the measurer. This eliminates the need to bend down or lift the cup up to read the side. The set comes with three measurers in 4-cup, 2-cup, and 1-cup capacities and each measurer has cup, ounce, and milliliter measurement markings. As with all OXO products, these measuring cups have the signature ergonomic, nonslip handle. The plastic cups are dishwasher-safe but should not be used in the microwave or on the stovetop. --Cristina Vaamonde

Toxic Plastic September 18, 2008 Denmark 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
While I loved this product I have since given it away to someone who didn't really care about the BPA, etc. that is in it. I guess it is a personal choice even given the information on the news today. I wrote to OXO and this is their reply regarding the materials in the meausing cup: The materials are as follows PC (cup) Santoprene (handle) The Angled Measuring Cups have BPA. However, the amount of Bisphenol A present in the Angled Measuring Cups is less than half of the allowable limit by the European standard. I know that tomatoes and other acidic materials cause these chemicals to leach even faster into your foods once they come into contact with BPA. Personally I would rather use glass. Maybe OXO can come up with a better/revised product.
Great January 2, 2008 N. Milner I bought these for my grandmother for Christmas. She asked for measureing cups with big lettering so she can see them. It is wonderful.
Great timesaver. December 30, 2007 B. Burdette (Sykesville, MD) These measuring cups, while only a subtle improvement over others, will save you time and aggrivation. The vertically-readable scales allow you to quickly and precisely measure just the right amount of whatever liquid your recipe calls for. And you will be able to do it without bending over to see the marks, contourting yourself to simultaneously pour and view, or time-wasting trial and error. About the only negative I can say is that at least one of these cups has begun scuffing off the scale which over time could comprimise accuracy. As of now this has not been a real problem, though. Buy these measuring cups and throw everything else away, you'll be glad you did.
PERFECT-- no reason for complaints! November 27, 2007 J. D. Moore (Wadmalaw Island) I've owned these cups for well over five years, and LOVE them! In fact, I get upset when they both happen to be dirty and I need one. LOL They're VERY easy to read, well-marked, and dishwasher-safe! I have no idea what another's review about not being "sturdy" refers to . . . yes, they are plastic, but completely capable of doing their job. They are NOT flimsy at all. Also, I am unsure why someone cleaned them with a brush (which they complained scratched the cups) because they go in and out of the dishwasher with no problems. Like I said, I have had them over five years, and there is NO sign of deterioration in any way. Nothing is coming off, none of the markings are even fading. The only thing that comes off is the black handle grip, which you may take off for more thorough cleaning (depending upon what you have been doing with your cup, haha), and it slips right back on, tightly and completely. My ex-mother-in-law even fell in love with them during a visit, so I had to get them for her, too. I have even put hot liquids in there, with concern they might melt, but (again) they are not flimsy plastic cups. They are thick and sturdy, and have had no problems with hot liquids. I will also add, though, that liquids don't stay too long in a measuring cup once they are measured out, so that could be what helps. :) Use common sense. You know you are buying plastic, so just be wise about how you use it, as you would any plastic item you own. I would say that metal may be a better fit for SOME cooks, but then you don't have the additional bonus of seeing THROUGH the cup, as this one offers! You will NOT be disappointed if you buy these. I love ALL of my OXO products!
Great idea, not too sturdy November 27, 2007 Kara Forristall (Davis, California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love the angle on this measuring cup! Being over 6ft tall it makes it a whole lot easier to stand and measure rather than hunch over. HOWEVER, the product says it's dishwasher safe and durable but after only 8 months of use and NO dishwasher use, there's a crack in the bottom that seeps out liquids slowly. I am searching for a measuring cup with the same angled design made in another material, one that will last a few years at least! Until then I will replace mine with another OXO because it makes measuring liquids so amazingly simple!
