The adapter will not work on vehicles that deenerigize the cigarette lighter receptacle ,which opens the circuit to the battery,when the ignition switch is in the off position.Therefore making charging the battery impossible, using this adapter.This is not explained in the product literature.

Came with the unit I bought. I have a diesel PU that is only used for towing so it sits parked a lot. I use the Cigarette adapter to attache the charger. Quality made.

Definately worth it. I connect the Battery Tender to the cigarette lighter in the arm rest in the back seat of my seldom driven Old Toronado. So much easier that connecting it to the battery and it works just a well.

This makes keeping the second car charged a breeze. No more popping the hood, no more worrying about the hood getting shut on the charger, no worries about the cat knocking a clip off and creating sparks. No more worries about getting the polarity wrong. You can plug it in with gloves on. You can charge the battery without getting dirty. I run the cord through the window. The big point here is that by making it easy to use, the charger gets used more often, greatly extending the life of the battery in vehicles that see infrequent use.
