5 out of 5 stars Easy to use and functional   June 24, 2008
This gauge is very easy to use, and provides quick determination of tread depth for each tire. One does not need anything more expensive than this item for its intended purpose.

4 out of 5 stars Oily, but it's cheap and it works.   April 16, 2008

Oily, but it's cheap and it works. Because of the oil on the shaft, I store it with the shaft completely compressed.

5 out of 5 stars Works just fine   April 3, 2008

I bought this because I can' find them anywhere in any local auto parts vendor. I use it to determine when to replace my tires and measure my tires for winter traction (4/32" minimum for snow - tire tread visual indicators are 2/32" so they are useless to me) so no more guessing or finding those lincoln pennies for me. It works very well but is a little messy since the shaft oil rubs all over your fingers. I keep it safely stored away from dust in my toolbox.

What's to say? It's a tread depth gauge, it either works or it doesn't...
this one works. It is built well, easy to use and the price is right.

4 out of 5 stars Very handy tool   November 29, 2007

This little tool is much more handy and accurate than the old "coin" method. It's small and easily stored in the glove compartment, ready for use any time. With gas costs rising so dramatically, tire wear and inflation pressure have become more important as part of driving economy. With the extremely low price, this is an excellent investment in assuring your tires are safe and will help in keeping gas mileage up.
