ROCHESTER, Minn. -- In an effort to continually educate investigators and study coordinators, Mayo Alliance for Clinical Trials will offer the Fifth Annual Current Issues in Clinical Research Conference "Improving Clinical Research: Local Practice and National Issues," Aug. 26-27, 2004, at the Mayo Civic Center.
The conference is designed for study coordinators, nurses, physicians and other research personnel involved in the management and coordination of clinical research, and will provide a comprehensive review of the responsibilities and processes of clinical research performance. The conference format balances topics of national and general interest, which are presented in general sessions, with clinical research and management issues addressed in breakout sessions.
At the end of the conference, participants should be able to:
Interpret current issues involved in the informed consent process
Recognize the importance of patient protection in the current research environment
Evaluate how the HIPAA requirements relate to clinical research
Illustrate the principles of Good Clinical Practice
Identify current legal issues in clinical research
Discuss adverse experience reporting requirements
Demonstrate the mechanics of teamwork in clinical research
Examine emerging future trends of research
