TCT 2009 to address electronic health records

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- SEPTEMBER 10, 2009 -- In addition to breaking news and new research data from clinical trials, investigations and registries, TCT (Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics) 2009, the largest global medical and scientific symposium dedicated to interventional cardiovascular medicine, will feature an important discussion led by national experts on Electronic Health Records (EHR).

Leading experts will discuss key considerations in the selection, implementation, utilization, and economics of EHR and Personal Health Record (PHR) solutions. Near-term implications of ARRA and health care reform in the EHR space, and the potential of the dedicated cardiovascular information systems of the future will be considered.

EHR has figured prominently in the health care debate as key players consider paper-less systems as a potential source of savings. More pressing though, the outbreak of the H1N1 virus has given calls for electronic records a greater sense of urgency as organizations attempt to track outbreaks.

The session, co-organized by Aurelia G. Boyer (Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital & NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System) and James E. Tcheng (Professor of Medicine and Medical Knowledge Architect, Duke University Health System), will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2009 from 9:30am to 12:00pm in The Moscone Center.
