Stem Cell Research – Now a Barking Chicken? What’s Next?!?

According to confidential sources, an impending shortage of chickens is believed to be imminent in the USA for the balance of 2005 thru 2008. This shortage is due to the sudden increase in demand for chicken as a primary source of nutrition. Hence causing a new chicken breed to be genetically engineered which will bark like a dog. Stem cell Research has now begun to develop what is being called “The Nando’s Peri-Peri Barking Chicken”

Face Research Website

There is a new website (www.faceresearch.org) that has very interesting experiments and questionnaires about how you perceive faces and voices. You get lots of feedback on the results of experiments you participate in and there is information on the scientific theories behind the experiments.

You can register to participate (you get in immediately and no email address is needed) or log on as a guest user.

Trustworthy but not Lustworthy

Evolutionary theories predict that we should favour our genetic relatives in every domain except for mating (because of the costs of inbreeding). A new study has shown that people judge faces that resemble them as trustworthy but sexually unattractive. You can see similar experiments online.

The updated Science Blog: Less is more?

As previous visitors will note, Science Blog looks a bit different. Gone is the groovy graphic at the top of the screen of snake-like wormholes reaching across the eons. In is a quirky little molecule.

More importantly, the site has transitioned to a more robust content management system that should allow us to offer more whizbang in the months ahead. You can already see that all registered users get their own blog (nice) and the forums tool you're reading from is different too.

About us

Science Blog was started in August 2002. It lives, breathes and eats press releases from research organizations around the globe. Most of what you read here are press releases from the outfits named in the stories themselves. Got a news story you think belongs here? Let's talk. The other half of the equation is blog posts from readers like you. So if you have an interest in science, please register and join others like you in an ongoing, vibrant dialog about what makes the world tick. Meantime, please take a minute to read our Privacy Policy and Site Disclaimer.
