Bioluminescence imaging used for eye cancer detection

Rockville, MD -- At the moment, doctors rely on biopsy analysis to determine the progression of eye cancer. However, researchers now believe that a new technology, bioluminescence imaging (BLI), will allow doctors to detect tumors earlier and quickly choose a method of treatment that doesn't necessarily involve eye surgery.

Pitt researchers identify key molecular pathway to replicate insulin-producing beta cells

Death, miscarriage linked to genetic mutation

Scientists have discovered that the genetic mutation that causes the childhood cancer retinoblastoma routinely triggers fetal death and miscarriage in laboratory animals by disrupting the normal functions of the placenta, a finding that may force researchers to reevaluate the powerful Rb gene and the role it plays in causing cancer.

About us

Science Blog was started in August 2002. It lives, breathes and eats press releases from research organizations around the globe.
