lending a helping hand

in an age where there is too much information available, having to rebuild your home and your community can be quite the long road home. i was watching the news the other night and there was a story about some older couples and individuals trying to rebuild their homes after the hurricanes. the individuals, who could very well be someone's grandparents, were scammed by a con-artist contractor. $35,000 later they have a foundation they cannot use and another $20,000 they must pay to correct the construction they have already began.

talk about kicking someone when they're down.

the southern pine council has set up a program on their website called the building pro locator. it is a place where individuals can search by state to find LICENSED professionals in the area who are specialized in a raised floor construction. everything from architects to contractors to engineers, the site helps to alleviate the aniexty of calling your "friend's good friend's brother's uncle's co-worker's daughter's ex husband" to come help rebuild your home and your memories.

take the time to lend a helping hand to someone who needs help rebuilding after the storm. they can go to the website: http://www.raisedfloorliving.com/builderpro.shtml

check it out, look around and call a few people. also, if you know of any licensed professionals looking for work they are more than encouraged to enter their information online. the website is completely secure and completely free.

afterall, we're all just trying to lend a helping hand.
