For all of you believers in ghosts, angels, and demons

Submitted by andi (not verified) on Wed, 2008-01-09 07:11.

A little high-school physics: Why do we *see* things? Because of light scattering from them. So, if the camera *saw* the "apparition," why did nobody else on the scene see it? The CCDs in the cameras (if that was a digital camera) are not too sensitive beyond the visible range. Let's assume that indeed it was a "spiiiiiriiiit" and that the camera is quite sensitive in a wide electromagnetic spectrum. Judging by the blue color, the "ghost" must have been radiating in the short-wavelength range invisible to the naked eye (since nobody but the camera detects it), that is - close to UV-A radiation (such as the one used in tanning salons). For something to emit near-UV radiation of this intensity, it must have had quite a power source! Add to this the UV filtering properties of common glass, and the dilemma groooows... So, it's not UV, just plain blue such as, hmmm... from a bag or a mischievous computer geek with too much time on his/her hands...

Submitted by Greenlea (not verified) on Fri, 2008-01-04 16:07.

I have been studying the ghost phenomena and angel sightings on the internet. I have also been getting closer to the Lord, and I asked Him, "why is it You don't give people the proof that thy want in order to be a believer?" you see, I know in my heart that there is another dimension very close to us (see quantum physics for this theory posed in the scientific community)

The Lord answered me in my heart in a sort of telepathic way. He said, "I give them proof everyday, but their eyes are closed; they do not want to see, so they don't." Then I saw this on the evening news just recently. I thought, "This is a direct attempt to show humans that there is extra-dimensional life and that God shows them this blatantly, yet they would rather believe in only a 3 dimensional reality that just happened to come about out of nothing. I feel sorry for all of you. You will all step into this dimension immediately when you die. Don't believe me? See for yourself. Go to Neardeathexperiences.com.

It's a bug not an angel. Objects closer to the camera appear larger than more distance objects. The bug was right on the lens or lens shield. Being so close to the camera made it appear larger (and out of focus, hence the blurriness of the bug) than the reported appeared.

The ghost at the gas station.

Submitted by Investigator (not verified) on Tue, 2007-12-25 09:56.

It looks like it has wings. There have been stories of alien visitors who had wings in the past. I don't believe it to be one of them. Beings existing in a 4th dimension would be invisible to us. Anything is possible. But really, I don't think I really believe in any of it. The thing is, in comparison to where the news reporter is standing in the video, the blue whatever doesn't seem to be actually on the ground. It appears as it is but after looking at the reporter then looking at the blue thing, there is a difference. Also, I can't see why an Alien would visit an ohio gas station and hang out for 30 minutes then jump on the hood of someones car then fly away. I don't see a ghost nor angel doing that. It's behavior matches a bug.

My Goodness!

Submitted by Anthony (not verified) on Mon, 2007-12-24 23:43.

Are people that desperate for a bit of evidence that life might actually exist outside of Earth?! Believe what you want but NOT with this. Come on have a look at how cameras and lenses work (do you research folks):

http://www.skepticalanalysis.com/reports/ghosts/gasGhost.html

I can see if someone saw this with their own eyes and not through the eyes of a CAMERA but get real folks -- IT'S A CAMERA CAPTURING THIS! A CAMERA! Camera hacks and tricks do occur, too. So in my point of view, it's either some hacker playing a prank having found a way to hack a security camera (which is possible since it's merely a machine) to put in a chip or something to mess with frames OR it d**m well could just be a bug (which is where I'm leaning more towards knowing cameras):

http://www.skepticalanalysis.com/reports/ghosts/gasGhost.html

If you want to believe in another life then do so, but do it because of something YOU'VE seen with your OWN two eyes and NOT THROUGH THE EYES OF A CAMERA OF ALL THINGS! And if you want to believe in another life then fine, but at least rule out other possible theories completely by testing theories YOURSELF. And unless you understand how lenses and cameras work then you're just a gullible idiot who'll believe absolutely anything. And if you didn't do a shred a bit of testing to rule out the bug and bag theory or any other theory then well you're a gullible idiot.

Re: confused information

Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 2007-12-13 11:15.

This should help clear up any confusion about what it is that is important to believe about Jesus Christ.

Since the 19th century, some historians largely reject the gospel of John as a reliable source of information about the historical Jesus. “Most commentators regard the work as anonymous," (Understanding the Bible, a reader’s introduction, Stephen L Harris, 1985) and date it to 90-100. All agree that it differs widely from the other Gospels.

But as scientists, that shouldn’t prevent us from considering it relevant based on literary value alone. If you must put forth an argument, you can’t just pick and choose the argument that suits your purpose from the source you are quoting; you have to take the entire work into account.

According to the Gospel of John, redemption is not just keyed into believing that Jesus died for our sins because somehow God could think of no other way to absolve us except by sacrificing ‘His own son’ to Himself. According to this same source there is a much saner way to earn redemption, and that is simply to follow sound teachings, which is why God gives us Prophets in the first place.

John 14:23
Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.”

In fact, it is clearly spelled out elsewhere in the Bible that simply calling Jesus “Lord, Lord,” and the inference here is simply following an article of faith that is handed down with no concrete evidence, is not the way to gain God’s Mercy; but clearly what will get you there is alignment of your will to that of God Almighty.

Matthew 7:21
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”

And the vanguard should stop carping on there being ONLY one way and ONLY one belief that will get us God’s mercy…in the real world you’d be hard pressed to find Only one kind of anything, whether it be a flower, a car, a grain of rice…the Only Singularity of its kind is God, but it would appear there are many avenues to get to ‘Him.’—and Jesus was calling people to one place among many.

John 14: 2
In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to make a place ready for you.

As for Paul’s Letters to the Romans, that can also be discussed, however, it would be too lengthy for this forum. Suffice it to say that at the time there was already established a Judeo-Christian as well as a Gentile-Christian populace in Rome and there was a lot of fighting going on between these groups regarding the doctrine of Jesus—this led to many Christian deaths in the arenas, burning of existing scriptures, and ultimately the Nicene Convention so the Pagan Romans can feel they settled the issues between these two factions. Of historical importance is that the titles ‘Lord’, ‘Saviour’, ‘Redeemer’ and ‘Son of God’ were all titles conferred on Roman Emperors and transferring them to Jesus was tantamount to high treason—and among the Semitic people the term ‘son of God’ was never taken literally to mean filial kinship (Genesis 6:4, Luke 23-37, Exodus 4:22).

Jesus did not come to break the commandments but to uphold them,

"I am the LORD your God who … You shall have no other gods before Me..."
This commandment is to believe in the existence of One God and His influence on events in the world. It prohibits belief in or worship of any additional deities (including sons, wives, mothers, daughters…)

"Do not make an image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above..."
This prohibits the construction or fashioning of "idols" in the likeness of created things (people, beasts, fish, birds) and worshipping them.

confused information

Submitted by Anonymous on Tue, 2007-12-11 12:05.

In Isaiah it tells of the most beautiful angel being cast out of Heaven due to his greed and wanting to be greater than God. That would be Satan. 1/3 of the population of angelic beings were cast down with him.

Although, what this blue mist/fish/bug/plastic bag is is really irrelevant. The only thing that is really important is what one believes about Jesus Christ.
Jesus died for my sins and your sins, we do need to take responsibility for our actions, but our sins we are unable to compensate for and that is Why God sent his Son.
Read romans 3:23, 5:8, 6:23, and 10:9-10
then finish up by looking at John 3:16.

then if you havent already ask God to forgive you of your sins and and ask Jesus to come reside in your heart.

The Bible Quran And Science

Submitted by ra on Tue, 2007-12-04 15:07.

With all saber rattling and Bible thumping aside, the moniker Satan/Lucifer/Demon has been applied to individuals of far greater magnitude than this effervescent blue one.

Taken from the New International Version Bible, Jesus used it on Peter, and he survived the affront:

Mark 8:33 But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."

For the independent reader, Satan would appear to fill the role of tempter but more importantly Accuser and not some boogey man (this is also the Judeo-Islamic concept of Satan):

Zechariah 3:1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.

There would appear nothing in all of heaven(s) hell(s) or earth(s) that serves anyOne but God, even Satan serves God, listens to Him and follows directions:

Job 1:7 The LORD said to Satan, "Where have you come from?"
Satan answered the LORD, "From roaming through the earth and going back and forth in it."

Job 1:12 The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger."
Then Satan went out from the presence of the LORD.

The Angels are always spoken of separately from Satan, giving the understanding that Satan was never of the same constitution as Angelic beings, so Satan is categorically not a fallen Angel:

Job 1:6 One day the angels came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them.

From my own personal experience there is never a greater evil than that which men/women do to themselves and each other. It is considered a sign of maturity to take responsibility for one’s own errors (heinous acts) and askew pointing the finger at the fall guy, conveniently Satan in this case.

No Bug!

Submitted by Anonymous on Mon, 2007-12-03 17:49.

I can clearly demonstrate that this was no bug or some insect:
1. Bugs are not fluorescent blue. Eyewitnesses testified that there was no light by the camera.
2. Bug season is over. On the night of this incident on Sunday, November 11, 2007 the temperature was around 40 degrees. Majority of bugs can't survive below 40F. They go dormant, migrate south or move indoors. See temp chart http://www.accuweather.com/forecast-climo.asp?partner=scjl&traveler=1&zi...
3. Bugs don't move around so smoothly from one spot to another. They zigzag and fly at a random unpredictable manner or walk around. They also don't morph and change shapes as they move (I’d like to see someone duplicate that.)
4. A bug would not be attracted to a dark camera; there are plenty of bright lights around the station that they would be much more attracted to.
5. If this was simply a bug we would have thousands or similar reports from other security camera worldwide but we don't!
6. An average security camera lens is less than an inch in diameter. A moth or other fly that lands on a lens would cover most of the field of view and not just a small portion of it.
7. The gas station owner or employee at the time of the incident couldn’t have altered the video. Many independent eyewitnesses were at the store at the time this was happening and saw it on the camera live.
8. Why was it picked out by the camera only and not by the unaided eye? Because a camera can pick up light frequencies that our eyes don't, like infrared. Point your camcorder at the front of your TV remote and press any button. You should be able to see the light flicker but to your eye it's totally invisible.
9. The size of the object as it was standing on the ground was roughly the size of a tall man.
10. Perform the following experiment. Place a small object that is roughly in the size range of a bug (you could use a piece of paper, leaf, or a real dead insect.) Stick a needle thru it and hold it in front of your camcorder or a real security camera if you have one. Press Record and move it around the lens in 2D and then 3D space. See if you can duplicate this phenomenon. You can't! I tried it. If you can, please post it here and send it to the news media (no photo editing allowed!)

So what was it? Based on my research and personal experience it's a fallen angel (also called a demon.) The only difference between angels and demons is that angels serve God while demons serve Lucifer. Why not an angel? I don't think that angels are stupid enough to be caught on tape but demons have been known to be careless and at times purposefully take on a physical form. Why not a ghost? Ghosts don't exist. When people die they go either to heaven or hell. There is no in between stage or a way back to earth. Demons love masquerading as sprits of dead people to make people believe that those who die just float around. That's a lie. According to Bible in Hebrews 9:27 it is appointed for men to die once and then the judgment. Reincarnation is a big lie too. Your final destination will depend on whether you accept God's love gift on your behalf thru Jesus Christ. After you die it’s too late. It’s a free offer to us but it cost God everything!

Okay, science bloggers? there is a logical description of ghosts. Tis the leftover energy of the body and mind that imprints on photons. They have proven its possible to imprint a photon.

anyway, that being said this is somthing along the lines of, i would guess, a small bug or maybe even ball lightning, i dont know if it was visible or not.

Perhaps if we could see the orignal recording, not a news camera trying to show the movement on a tilted surveilence monitor. I believe it would look differently. It is hard to see perspective this way-

I believe a bug, due to perspective

Submitted by wcgreen on Fri, 2007-11-16 14:17.

Notice, the object never changes size. It maintains it's movement on only ONE plane. It never moves further away from the camera, and then closer... growing in size and then getting smaller. I believe it can only be a bug with blue light reflected from the sign.

I am not a scientist by any means, but a professional artist for the past 20 years and trained in perspective. Just seems to me if it were an object that was down near the area near the cars, or moving around that space between the pumps, it's size would vary. It never does, and seems to be moving on a pane of glass over the lens.

We are not alone...

Check it out again. The very first footage where it shows the blue object move up towards to roof, then turns and goes down to the ground. watch it and pause it, and watch it again, slow. NOW, think of it as a person, and instead of "wings", think ARMS. Here's what I see. It almost looks like swimming, so if it is using its "arms" to propell itself towards the roof, you can see what looks like a head at the top. Then, it bends to go down, which is behind the "arms" and looks like where our waist would be and you would naturally bend. Then it uses its "arms" again to go toward the ground, which would make it head down and feet up, so now look at it at this point and it does look like two (small) legs sticking upward, like standing on its head. Then when it takes off to the corner, if you are with me on thinking its standing on its head, it moves head first using its "arms" again to move.
That's what I see. Anyone else see it?
If you look at it this way, it's easier to see it's definately not a bug.

Open you eyes and your mind....

Submitted by italian_grey_hound on Fri, 2007-11-16 10:50.

I thought this was a SCIENCE blog. Let's look at some science to figure out how this could actually be possible.... you may (or may not) be familiar with the spectrum of light based on ENERGY and WAVE LENGTH. Most people who believe in spirits, ghosts, paranormal, etc, agree that they are a form of ENERGY. So if you look at the spectrum of light .....Chart found here: http://www.astro.virginia.edu/class/skrutskie/images/light_em_spectrum.j...

you will see that there are the high energy, low wavelength light, GAMMA rays, and as you reduce energy but increase wave length, it goes through x-rays, ultra-violet, infrared, microwaves and radiowaves. so in between ultra-violet, and infrared is a TEENY TINY little slice of light, called visible light. this is the ONLY light that is visible with the human eyes! SO, based on that, there is a HUGE spectrum of light and energy that we cannot see. Now I ask you, how is it not possible that sometimes there may be energy and wave length, that combined correctly, will cross over into the visible spectrum. Also, if you check out the chart, you will see that EVERY COLOR has its own energy and wavelength combination, which is probably why it appeared blue to us, and also why there have been other colors that have been seen. Based on science it is possible!! It is also true that cameras (video or regular) can pick up items that you cannot see with your eyes. I have a series of pictures that I took of my daughter when she was a baby that have a white cloudy looking thing that shows movement, and in every picture it is moving in a different direction. I checked the negatives, and it was not developing fluid at all, but you could see it in the negative, and none of the other pictures on the roll had this. No, i'm not an overly spiritual person and I'm not a science geek. I'm actually just a single mom that has a very open mind and paid attention in my college classes. :)

Ghosts, Angels, Bugs, Fish, The debate is wonderful!

Submitted by elizabet on Fri, 2007-11-16 06:19.

Having viewed the footage I can understand why all of the above have been put forward as suggested explanations. I believe there will be many more over time.
I agree that the movement of the form does resemble a "fish" and also agree with those who put forward a plausible explanation of why the form could not be a "bug"
What I find most appealing about this incident is that it is creating considered debate and measured argument. Absolutely thrilling to find material out there in the "ether" available to a mass audience generating such interest!
From a scientific viewpoint the tape should be checked for "creative tampering"
From a psychic viewpoint I believe the image to be a life form from another realm!

Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 2007-11-15 10:39.

It isn't like I can explain it either.. but sick of hearing it be called a bug on a lens.. It clearly keeps the exact same size as it escapes up past the underside of the roof and past it's edge.. far away from the camera I might add. First I was thinking video manipulation but when I saw the shop owner I didn't think that again. Another one is a bag.. Come on! a bag that sits motionless for a half an hour in mid air? It seems like people look for the easiest answers to soothe their mind from things they can't or not supposed to understand..

It even seems to hide on the car window as that guy walks by before it flies off.

Really wrong on that one. The footage you see is the actual footage from the gas station camera. I live right down the street the gas station manager watched it and then reviewed his camera and it was on there. And the "fins" you are referring to are wings. You could have come up with something better like maybe a bug,but a fish come on.

I live right down the street from this gas station. I was there yesterday when news crews from another station were there. You can clearly see in this image that this thing (I'll call an angel) is standing stationary on the ground. It stood there for thirty minutes flew away, came back sat on the mans car and then flew away again. The camera doesn't move, there are no other lights by this camera other than the ones by the gas pumps, it is to big to be a bag, and way to big to be a bug. Compare it to the news reporter were she stood aproximatly were the angel was. The news reporter is smaller than the image.

This is definitely a ghost. If you watch the video carefully while you're wearing sunglasses that are polarized and then rotate the polarized lens in front of your eyes, you'll see that this is definitely a ghost. While ghosts live among us, ghosts have not been able to materialize in the physical world. But, due to a recent tear in the fabric of space, a few of the blue ghosts have been able to leak out among us. Most have inhabited living humans, but some are freely floating around looking for a being to inhabit.

This is no bug, or fish.

Submitted by Nanofan on Wed, 2007-11-14 18:54.

This is no bug, or fish. This looks identical to the shape and animation movements to a avatar called a "carbuncle" in the on-line video game Final Fantasy XI. I have a Summoner job and I use the carbuncle avatar in the game. This has the same colour blue and I can see its long ears and tail move in the exact way the animation moves in the game. I see its run - a sort of four-legged scampering animation. I can see its secondary darker blue in a few segments as well. I also see the same animation to the avatar's jumping when it jumps up to disappear. I'm not sure how the image was combined to the video to the gas station, but I am most certain it is simply a blurred segment of animation of a FFXI carbuncle avatar. There are too many points that are the same to be just a random coincidence. I believe this was simply a left over Halloween prank.

http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a97/Fantasy_Gamer/ff11_carbuncle.jpg

Watch towards the end of this video to see how a carbuncle in FFXI moves:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PX_S8ZMoxHY
You as a player, can easily control the camera in game play so you could focus up closer to the avatar. Whoever made the "ghost" positioned their camera closer to record its animation.

Look carefully, and you'll see that this is a fish. Granted, it's a WAY out of focus fish, but it is definitely a fish. At 11 seconds into the video you can clearly see its pectoral fins.

So someone rigged up a way out of focus camera in front of a fish tank, and then combined the video with gas-station surveillance footage. Big deal.

It could be a plastic bag, but that does not explain why it was in shot for so long. What was the wind like at the time? Did the clerk see it with his own eyes as a blue mist? Why does it appear to move with purpus? It does not appear to be a bug, if it were they would see it all the time. The same with the plastic bag, why is this differant? The answer is out there, one way or the other. It needs futher scrutany.

It's probably the ghost of my lost windfall. I was visiting Baltimore during the short time that they were selling "Baltimore Browns" souvenirs, and I didn't buy any. I bet they go for a fortune on eBay these days.
