OK, I got confused with the B-splines now. Every definition of a B-spline that I can find in the web says that a B-spline is a curve. A curve doesn't map just from some domain, it's always one-dimensional, and it has a multidimensional range. But, apparently, you are talking about more general B-splines, which map from whatever domain into whatever range. In this case, obviously, the range has nothing to do with the domain.
As for the computer architecture, are you trying to convince me that addition is more error-prone than division? Are you kidding me? I'm sorry, but it's useless. Besides, this discussion has completely missed the point. The point is that instead of changing the set of basis functions one can restate the problem, and that can be done independently of the approximation method. The point is also that instead of restating the problem or changing the basis functions you can obtain the same result (with the same error bound) by adding more knots or increasing the approximation degree. Of course, the cost of these approaches, measured in the time and memory usage, will be different. Different, but not necessarily higher. For instance, adding more knots surely spends more memory, but evaluation of an approximated value for a given input can be actually faster because the approximation for each piece of a piecewise function will be simpler.
By the way, aren't those comments getting to narrow? Maybe it's a good idea to write next comments in the main thread.
Hey guys this topic is about the oldest spoken language in the world not in India. And you guys who tell tamil is the oldest or anything are getting to know about this only through net and no one has actually known that in reality. Reality is we cant remeber anything that is older that 10 years only things that are of great importance. And where did this terrorism come and why is that these tamilians claim that our language is the oldest . What will you get from that. Why you guys cant see the present. See what is of today . Its already 1 year of 26/11. We are called to proud Indians only in things that are of no use . Even if we come to knwo that Tamil is the oldest language that doesnt mean whole world will learnt the language. But if the whold world comes to know about India then its good not language language.. Fed up of this bull shit from many days. I am trying to understand which is the oldest but when ver answers comes its again tamil verses another one. Tamilians your proud of your language please keep it in your pants and shoo.. Forgot that your Indian. Please start that habit and stop telling our language our language...

I started dating my gorgeous but “forbidden” love when I was 20 and he was 49. Coming from a very conservative family I don’t how to bring myself and tell my parents that I’m dating a man who’s older than my father (not by much, but still). They would right away jump to the conclusion that he’s just using me for my looks and my body. We keep our love a secret. In public sometimes I can’t even hold his hand and it kills me. It’s a price that I pay for being such a coward and not being able to be strong enough and stand up for what is most important to me. He is the most beautiful, generous, kind being that I know and he loves me endlessly. Needless to say that money or anything else has nothing to do with our relationship. He says that he has never been happier and that is most important for me. Not too long ago we went through a difficult time together (still recovering from it) and he told me that if it wasn’t for me he would cry every night. The more I get to know him, the more I love him, but it’s so hard. He tells me that I will need to move on and find someone my age, but I can’t even think about being with another man. He’s in a good health, but of course he’s not a teenage boy (although he acts like one most of the time :P); he worries about things like maybe in the future he may not be able satisfy me sexually or he doesn’t want to be a burden. Doesn't he realize how much I care for him and that I want to be with him and for him?
Acceptance is a big thing. Acceptance from him, acceptance for myself (I want kids in future, but it would be impossible if I were to stay with him), acceptance from my parents. How does one find peace of mind? How can I learn to just accept?
I'm very lucky, because I look around and see so many unhappy couples, failed marriages, singles desperate to find love, and we are just greatful for every moment that we share together. I bring happiness into his life and he fills mine with so much love.

Creationists however don't use logic at all; they just believe which is the whole idea of faith isn't it??
If creationists applied logic to the great question then it would void any concept of faith, rendering their belief system hypocritical.

Can you explain to me what proof there is that God exists? I doubt you can show any Mathematical, philosophical, scientific or any other evidence that the God of the bible exists. The bible was written by people (Human beings) how can you be 100% sure of the authenticity of any of the people involved in it's publication, for all you know it was written by a deluded homeless man.
You talk about science as if it's a belief system, it is not. Science is just a name for the search for truth through reason and logic which even creationist can learn to understand, how about you try and apply true reason and logic to your creationistic dilemma instead of attempting to bring science down by making unfounded below the belt attacks at how scientists go about proving or disproving things.

Indeed. Vitamin D seems to be playing an important role in cognitive function. I ran across this article with solid references on vitamin d deficiency and cognitive impairment. The article stated: "Vitamin D deficiency occurs in 55% of patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD) and 41% in patients with Alzheimer's Disease (AD)." This is from this Vitamin D article.
So, I'm assuming one of the heart drugs were the overall tremendously successful statins. There is some research hinting that statins, while successful in other regards, may cause cognitive impairment. (See this study.)

You don't actively see new stations doing much about global warming. Yes, you'll see them report on CO2 emissions somewhat frequently, but who cares. To the average person that doesn't mean much, it doesn't affect their every day life, their income, where and how they live... etc. To see actual change the media would almost have to be accusatory in their findings. Seek out actual corporations, car manufactures, aerosol manufactures and whatnot. Bring the attention on the producers rather than consumers.
Politicians need to be affected as well. The media needs to be a focus on these people, so that actual legislation might be heard that can then affect these producers. Unfortunately that news just doesn't sell as well as sex scandals and murder...
Ladies if you had any idea how many straight men (all kinds) love female body hair. It makes me sad to read that a natural thing like hair makes you’ll so miserable.
I’m a bit older but considered muscular and attractive by females from 20’s to 60’s.
Almost all of my girlfriends have been hairy. Over half have been models. I’m not bragging but I’ve never had any trouble finding an attractive girlfriend. The reason that they were all hairy is because that’s what I was looking for.
Now that I’ve been single for about a year, I have a hard time finding a girlfriend that isn’t a shaved, plucked “Barbie.” Almost all of my hairy girlfriends have been shocked to find that at least half of straight guys get turned on by hairy women. There is no such thing as too hairy.

I remember when I was 15, thinking "surely it will stop by the time I'm 16. It's got to, I'm too old." I'm 20 now, and I used to feel the same as you did. "I believed that no guy will ever want to date a girl that wets the bed."
But I'm married, now, and my husband could care less that I wet the bed. I told him when we were engaged, and it didn't bother him. It's such a relief to me, because I always wondered how I could get married with my problem!
But if he loves you, he won't care. (besides, HE'S not the one getting wet). He doesn't mention my problem, and, in fact, forgets about it most of the time (unless I mention it). He knows it's just a bodily function thing, and it's not my fault. I don't wake him up when I have an incident (on purpose or otherwise). I simply replace the towel I have on my "bed wetting pad," and go back to sleep within 5 minutes. I've got a very fast and clean system, and it works great.
It shouldn't be a problem for you. If the guy loves you, the issue won't bother him at all. But if it does bother him, a guy who loves you won't let silly thing like that keep you from him!
I'm a 20 year old married female, and I still wet the bed occasionally. I used to think it corresponding with my monthly cycle... but the truth is that it's somewhat random, and I can wet the bed 3+ times a month.
I've developed a pretty easy system of rules for me to follow in order to decrease wet problems/clean-up:
1) Don't drink water for at least two hours before you go to sleep. Drink tons of water during the day, of course, but avoid it like the devil at night.
2) The last thing you do at night before you sleep should be using the bathroom. Hopefully, that'll get rid of all the liquids in you. No liquids-no bed wetting.
3) Get a liquid resistant pad ("bed wetting pad") to sleep on top of. This should protect your sheets if you have an incident. I actually use a pad with a folded towel on top of it. Then, if something happens, it's really easy to exchange the wet towel with dry ones and go straight back to sleep. VERY fast, and very clean. And, also, very concealable. I've taken this bad/towel system to various sleepovers and etc., and it hasn't failed me yet. You can hide it in your sleeping bag, and arrange it properly when no-one is around No one even needs to know!
4) I've also noticed that many times when I wake up to an "incident," my dream warned me of it ahead of time. My dream will shift towards bathrooms, and using bathrooms. If you notice that you are having a bathroom dream, wake up IMMEDIATELY, and go and use the REAL bathroom (or your dream self will settle for an imaginary one).
5) There are supposed to be various ways to "train" your bladder, but I haven't really tried them myself. My best guess, though, would be to drink as many liquids as humanly possible during the day--and none at night. Maybe your bladder will expand?
So for those of you who are older bed wetters... you're not alone. It's a bit odd that we haven't stopped when everyone else did, but we can still be normal and happy.
Then maybe we should spend money on solving the poverty problem and saving peoples lives instead of trying to destroy the global economy?
Thanks for a great article. I wonder how long it will take for this technology to develop. I believe that dermatoscopes have become very popular in the UK, used in various popular day clinics. But this is not a solution for skin lesions that are free of pigment or too small to be noticed at a routine examination.

I think there should be a reality show that contestants have to be the most "Earth Friendly" to win the competition. That way people get a chance to be shown how to take care of our planet in a fun way. Plus, our reality shows besides American Idol are the same thing.
