  • The fundamental error of the contemporary physics   2 days 18 hours ago

    Hi Tad

Nice thinking. Most know there's plenty wrong with our current understanding of physics, but whether the truth would ever now be accepted is another matter!

Check this out; In the relativistic velocity adjustment; It's ok for observer B to see objects A and C approaching from different directions, at say v1 and v2 giving an observed closing speed between them of v1 + v2. Yet the superluminal motion often observed in the cosmos can't really be happening as it's said it would breach SR!
Are we really an intellegent species!??

  • Is the 'Giant Impact' hypothesis in reality the 'Origin of the Moon' ?   2 days 18 hours ago

Great post! I read about the Giant Impact Hypothesis back in my high school. I am a college sophomore with a dual major in Physics and Mathematics @ University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. By the way, i came across these excellentphysics flashcards. Its also a great initiative by the FunnelBrain team. Amazing!!!

  • Finite possibilities of the finite element method   2 days 19 hours ago

(Note: This is in reply to Re: Re: range/domain transformation at <http://www.scienceblog.com/cms/blog/8227-finite-possibilities-finite-element-method-26331.html#comment-46518>.)

    popiol:

    You state:

OK, I got confused with the B-splines now. Every definition of a B-spline that I can find in the web says that a B-spline is a curve. A curve doesn't map just from some domain, it's always one-dimensional, and it has a multidimensional range. But, apparently, you are talking about more general B-splines, which map from whatever domain into whatever range. In this case, obviously, the range has nothing to do with the domain.

As I stated very early in the discussion, here, I'm referring to the generalization of B-spines to multiple dimensions. (See my post Re: We have to choose something at <http://www.scienceblog.com/cms/blog/8227-finite-possibilities-finite-element-method-26331.html#comment-46019>. I mentioned them even earlier in the discussion, even though I didn't have the reference until the linked post.)

I'm sorry if my shorthand of simply referring to the entire class of one through many dimensional B-spines as simply B-spines has caused you any confusion. The problem is that your references haven't, yet, caught up with the present state of knowledge.

  • The oldest language   2 days 22 hours ago

    Dear friend,

This concept of oldest language is a real nonsense, some of us agree this. But there are many who are trying to get some extra recognition by the world community.Nobody opposes self pride,if it doesn't hurt anyone. Why people never understand this.Just assume,If there was only one language in this world none of us would have been in nonsense disputes like this. But,why there is diversity? How can you really love and respect yourself while cursing and critisizing others simultaneously...........All these over critics and over arguments are just nonsense........One should understand the power of silence, and try to achieve the ultimate goal. It's very true that when we reach towards truth our thoughts will be unselfish..........

Try to have a broad mind........

Get rid of your well and see the big sea ahead your eyes...............

  • Survey seeks insights to 'out of body' experiences   3 days 37 min ago

I had quite few experiences of paralisis, but yesterday night has been different. I was falling asleep, while my soul, my mind, i dont know, woke up, and i perceived my body, and i started to feel like i was a missile, i could hear the noise of it, i dont know, like the energy of a missile wanted to pulling me out of my body. I started to think about paranormal things, and i was very scared. I concentrated trying to do not leaeve my body, and then after a few seconds, that seemed to me the longest of my life, i woke up, with the sensation of what had happened to me. It has been difficult for me to leader myself, I would like to leave myself going, but i dont feel confortable. What can i do?

    Dear friend,

In order to spread and disseminate the information contained in the latest report from the the World Watch Institute, "the 51% campaign" has been launched by an animal and environmental protection organization.
The organizers wish to inform those attending Copenhagen that 51% of all greenhouse gas emissions are from the livestock sector, it is for this goal that they have created the website 51percent.org

If you visit the solutions page there are various actions you can take, for example the 2nd solution allows you to send a letter to a number of the EPA officials and environment minister worldwide. You can also add a 51% banner to your blog or website.

So in the run up to Copenhagen, please visit 51percent.org

and send a letter to those attending COP15 and spread this website to your friends and Family!

  • Spearmint tea -- A possible treatment for hairy women   3 days 5 hours ago

I am a very hairy boy....and my obsession landed me on this blog.Although its fo females and hirsutism , but i want to know can I try it out?will it be safe for a male and would have the same effect on a male?Actually having excess body hair sucks both for men and women, it actually looks like a curse and makes jealous of all those 'normal' hairy people out there leading a normal life.
Body hair in today's society sucks both for men and women when you see other people having minimum body hair and leading a happy life.
Today girls hate little chest/abdomen hair ....but when you have excess hair you are not worth anybody....and it adds more to depression.
can the spearmint tea work for a male safely??

  • RADIATION INDUCED BRAIN CANCERS LINKED TO CELL PHONES   3 days 10 hours ago

I am very concerned about the future of our scientific community when we can be manipulated by an industry (as you put, a trillion dollars strong) by skewed studies that put the seed of doubt in our heads.

In fact I recently placed a thread onto a site allnurses.com where I stated my concerns regarding the link of cancers/tumors and the use of cell phones. Someone, who I surmise is an individual representing the interests of the telecommunications industry spent his day countering any argument with studies sponsored by T mobile and such or older studies done in Sweden, not the current one that forms a link between harm and usage. Please go to the allnurses.com site and use the search area in the right upper hand corner, using the search phrase: cellphone danger. You might come away from this stunned!

I also note that another poster on allnurses.com brought into reference Dr. Oz's show on Cell phone usage. After watching this Dr.Oz program a day later, I showed my wife the same show on and noted that it had been tampered with, the sound had been edited out in places. And only a day or two earlier it was sound, go figure!

  • Spearmint tea -- A possible treatment for hairy women   3 days 12 hours ago

Yes I agree with you, about that you said regarding to boys. But when there are in a room boys and girls and I see that girls don't have so many hairs, my shelf confidence turn down and I look a little bit not so friendly and no one talk to me some times :(

Most of all I hate honestly the hairs in my face and on the back of my neck....I can't stand it!

    But thanks for suporting me...:)

I DONT THINK YOU DID. TAKE IT FROM A PERSON WHO IS STILL IN SCHOOL, THAT THEY DO TEACH YOU THAT Y IS SOMETIMES A VOWEL. THIS LESSON IS THEN FOLLOWED THROUGHOUT THE YEARS WITH THE RULES THAT COME WITH Y BEING A VOWEL. IT ALSO COMES AS A SHOCKER THAT WHEN YOU TAKE A HOME EC OR ANY KIND OF HEALTH CLASS, THEY TEACH YOU THAT TOMATOS ARE A FRUIT. THANK YOU AND...... GO BACK TO SCHOOL.

  • words without vowels   3 days 14 hours ago

YES THE VOWELS ARE (A,E,I,O,U) AND THEN SOMETIMES Y. Y IS CONSIDERED A VOWEL WHEN IT IS PRONOUNCED AS ANOTHER LONG VOWEL. FOR EXAMPLE, CRY, THE Y STRESSES AN I SOUND. THEREFORE, MOST OF THE WORDS ON THIS LIST ARE BUNK. THEY ARE ALL CONSIDERED TO HAVE VOWELS BECAUSE OF HOW THE Y IS USED. AND BY THE WAY, IM ONLY 19 AND INFORMING YOU IDOITS OF THIS FACT. THANK YOU AND GO BACK TO SCHOOL.

  • Spearmint tea -- A possible treatment for hairy women   3 days 16 hours ago

Hey..I am half cypriot and also have too much body hair. I think it depends on the genes, it's not just pure hormonal imbalance. I have a cousin who also is sort of hairy, as well as I have another cousin and my sister too who aren't really hairy. It's not fair! Today I was looking at myself in the mirror in the morning light and I could see every single face hair :((, then I noticed I have hair on my back also, it spoiled my whole day. So this is how I came across this blog searching for help in some way.
I knew from before spearmint has these properties, but never tried, I will give it a shot. What sucks more (as far as I know) is that too much of "male" hormones makes more existing body hair and thins out the hair on the head :| And I am really obsessed with the thickness of my hair (on the head ofcorse). Ehh..
Anyway, just wanted to tell that I totally understand you and I'm sorry to hear about your mom :( But, see the comments here of some males who say it isn't that bad, some seem to be attracted by "hairy" women! And anyway, a boy who would reject a girl just because she's more hairy would be a complete idiot in my eyes and I would be glad not to hang around with this sort of judgmental people.
There's always a good part in everything I believe, even if it seems the most horrible thing on planet..

  • Old men chasing young women: A good thing   3 days 17 hours ago

Women develop a lot earlier than guys do. I know that it is a big turn off for women to date younger men, especially if they are a lot younger.

Its complete opposite for men though. Most guys will date yonger women and are usually turned off by older women.

I know a guy who is 47 and he is chasing 20 year olds. The attraction in a woman comes with male dominance, and it is way easier to dominate for guys over girls who are younger. I am not talking about control, or domineering, but being in control of yourself, making decisions firmly, and being the a-type male. I another know guy who is an insurance agent who isnt rich, drives an average car, and looks like an average joe, yet he always gets the most beautiful girls! He never buys them stuff, and changes girlfriends all the time! Whats the secret? Its all the behavior. Its the beauty that gets guys, and its the behaviour that gets the girls (real true behaviour, no faking as girls test to see if its real)
