This article implies that being a single mother reduces marriage prospects and causes single mothers to make poor choices for marriage.
While this is true, many of these women probably would have made poor choices in mates without a child out of wedlock. The fact that they have a child out of wedlock indicates a history of poor choices wrt relationships and mating.
