Dear Walls,

First of all, thank you very much for your reaction. I am sorry for the short delay in responding, but I am just back from my trip to the CNS meeting in San Francisco.

With respect to your first point, I agree with you that these findings are remarkable and that replication studies are therefore definitely needed.

As to point 2, I can ensure you that this is not simply a fairy tale. However, as you can imagine, I am not in a position to share any details with respect to this via the internet.

With respect to point 3, this is an abstract publication of the 28th International Congress of Psychology and can be found in the International Journal of Psychology, Volume 39, Issue 5/6, page 69-70. This conference volume, however, is not online, but I can send you a hard copy of it if you are interested. More or less the same with respect to the HBM 2004 publication. You can find this one in NeuroImage, Volume 22(S1), Emotion & Motivation, e373. ( http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=IssueURL&_tockey=%23TOC%236968%...

Recently, I published two papers on this topic in the proceedings of the 27th Annual Meeting of the Cognitive Science Society (pp. 2254-2258 or see online http://www.psych.unito.it/csc/cogsci05/frame/poster/2/f398-vandennoort.pdf) and in Lecture Notes in Computer Science, Volume 3784, pages 598-605 (see also http://fmri.uib.no/pdf/publikasjoner/HumanMachineInteraction.pdf or --> http://www.springer.com/east/home/generic/search/results?SGWID=5-40109-2....

To be honest, I have really no idea why McCraty did not publish on this topic after 2004.

It is obvious that these findings are remarkable and it is good to be critical. Therefore, replication studies are definitely needed. If I am right or wrong is not important in the long run, but I hope that together we (physicists, cognitive (neuro)scientists, and even philosophers) can come to a better understanding of consciousness.

Finally, if you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to contact me,

Best,

Maurits van den Noort
