The most exciting thing about clofazimine is that its target, the Kv1.3/KCNA3 channel has been indicated to regulate insulin sensitivity. Kv1.3 channel peptide blockers can facilitate glucose uptake in peripheral tissues. see http://www.pnas.org/content/101/9/3112
If this will be proved real in human body, then clofazimine might be used in both type I and type II diabetes patients.
