I don't think there is any intent to obfuscate.
Articles like this are news releases from the site indicated. If you went looking for the source article, you would find probably find the same thing that is reproduced here.
The bigger concern is whether you could find the researcher and research publication noted. There seems to be plenty of information for you to follow up if you are so inclined.
