Deep field photo

I find photo's like this fascinating! I have a Hubble deep field photo as my desktop wallpaper and have downloaded the full res (76mb) of this photo.

Our Milky Way galaxy contains 2-4 billion stars. And the universe that we can see appears to contain billions, trillions or whatever huge number of galaxies, each with billions of stars. It's hard to believe that intelligent life doesn't exist anywhere else in the universe. I can't mentally grasp the enormity of this universe we live in.

The the Earth, the sun, our solar system seem so large to us, but we are smaller than a dust spec in comparison against the universe.

What happens to us and what we do in our little corner of reality would seem to be meaningless against the scale of the universe.
