Sounds like they are grasping at straws in trying to come up with an explanation for the anomaly. If just changing the value of C corrects the anomaly, just maybe the value of C was wrong under certain conditions out in deep space where no one has journeyed before. If the new value can predict deep space journeys better then the old value of C then I would say - its time for a change - no matter what you think Fred.
