Looking at ALL the risk factors

I agree with your statement that, these findings conflict with the widely held belief that maintaining a normal weight automatically guards against CVD health concerns. It’s like just looking at total cholesterol to get an idea of someone's overall CVD risk; you need to also look at inflammation and oxidative stress for a full picture. I work for a clinical laboratory and we choose specific markers because they identify those people with inflammation and oxidative stress, which even in normal weight individuals will increase their risk for CVD. Many of these risk factors also have significant synergistic affects, and they can be just as modifiable as weight.
