So, how was Velcro derived from the space endeavor?

My understanding has always been that it was independently invented outside of the states. I also understand it originally was nylon and UV lighting that allowed the breakthrough to appear, so maybe those played a part? Just wondering if you remember the tie-in.
Regardless though, transformers and NASA - the post couldn't be better. Well, cake and ice-cream might help in that regard but I won't put it on you.
