About us
Science Blog was started in August 2002. It lives, breathes and eats press releases from research organizations around the globe. Most of what you read here are press releases from the outfits named in the stories themselves. Got a news story you think belongs here?
Let's talk.
The other half of the equation is
blog posts from readers like you. So if you have an interest in science,
please register and join others like you in an ongoing, vibrant dialog about what makes the world tick. Meantime, please take a minute to read our

I hope the presentation of ESP stimuli was more than just showing the visual material to loved ones or displaying a picture on a computer screen. Are the subjects aware when they are presented "ESP stimuli"? Are the loved ones simply shown the images or are they told to try to send the picture?
If not, it would be similar to having the loved one talk into a phone, and assuming a person can hear only if they can tell you what the person said (even though they weren't asked to dial a number). The showing of the picture on the computer screen is like posting a webpage without sending the link.
These things very well may have been done, but, as the article is written, some assumptions seem to have been made about how ESP would work, if it exists.
It doesn't sound more innovative an experiment than any other ESP related research I've encountered, perhaps even less so.
