Hypothesis vs. experiment

This press release shamelessly represents a scientific hypothesis as a settled scientific conclusion.

A computer model is NOT an experiment. A computer model is simply an elaborate and detailed statement of a scientific hypothesis.

What the computer model-based hypothesis asserts is that IF the temperature increases one degree Celsius, THEN specifed consequences WOULD BE EXPECTED TO HAPPEN.

The press release DOES NOT prove that a one degree Celsius increase in temperature has occurred, is occurring, or is likely to occur.

And by extension, the press release cannot assert that Professor Jacobson's work shows that even ONE EXCESS death will occur in California because of carbon dioxide.
