Science blog readers might be interested in my review of Extinction: How Life on Earth Nearly Ended 250 Million Years Ago by Douglas H. Erwin (Princeton University Press, 2006).

At the very least, you'll get a chuckle in Erwin's discussion of Lazarus taxa and Elvis taxa.
