This post can send our thoughts over a broad range. Mine go toward astronomy first today.

Compare what we see in the sky in visible light to what we can detect by telescopes ranging from infrared to gamma rays, especially if we produce images in a narrow range of frequencies (even single wavelengths), then superimpose them.

Then add in cosmic rays, neutrinos, and probably stuff that we don't know exists (and might not even expect), and the difference between perception and "reality" becomes enormously broad.

In spite of our perceptual limitations, we have discovered remarkable stuff in the Universe and we have other useful clues for further investigation.

This is the kind of idea that leads me to think about topics to write about for kids.
