"happy violence"?
How about First Person Shooter video games (ie., Doom, Duke Nukem), Grand Theft Auto? Plenty of grisly violence, and success in the game is predicated on ones ability to be efficently ultra-violent. ...and of course no consequences are realized by the players. I have to wonder if these kids have any idea that in reality if "they" die engaging in death and destruction they don't get to start over and try again.
