Can someone help me with the stats. How are they getting this 30-40 % increase? The data I see in the news reports is 86 MI and 39 Deaths for 15,560 patients taking Avandia compared to 72 MI and 22 Deaths for 12,283 patients not taking Avandia. By my calculations this gives a rate of MIs of 0.55% for Avandia and 0.58 for non-Avandia. But they are quoting 42% increase in MI rate with Avandia. What am I not seeing?
