If Eta Carinae is 7500 light years away and astronomers expect it to go into supernova anytime between now and the next 100 years, doesn't that mean it already went to supernova 7500-7600 years ago? After all any observations we make are from light that took 7500 years to reach the earth. Consequently, it would take the light from the explosion 7500 years for us to observe it, therefor Eta Carnae, in all likelihood, has already exploded.
