Cancer Prevention, vitamin D, sun exposure

Thank you for your excellent review of this recent study. I have found that many people feel they get adequate vitamin D in their diet. One glass of milk contains only 100 IU's of vitamin D. To reach this figure, one would need to consume 20 glasses of milk daily! For those adverse to taking supplements, healthy sun exposure, preferably before 11AM or after 3PM can play a significant role in a cancer prevention lifestyle. A study published in the journal "Cancer" in 2002 supports this. In this study it is estimated that lack of UVB radiation (and presumably thus vitamin D) may account for almost 24,000 cancer deaths each year in the United States. This is well over twice the number of people expected to die from all forms of skin cancer combined. Ten to fifteen minutes of sun exposure with 40 percent of the body exposed results in the absorption of a major 2000-5000 IU's of vitamin D. Thanks again for your review!
