Assessing the Patient

Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 2007-03-22 04:25.

Perhaps too much emphasis has been placed on symptoms. These are what the patient complains of, (subjective by definition). The signs are what the professional elucidates. If a given condition is not picked up by normal laboratory testing, you have to think of other tests that will pick it up.

What needs to be researched is the host response to infestation/infection by specific parasites. E.g., if a person is attacked by a specific antigen, they will produce certain antibodies. Sometimes these can be measured in a laboratory blood test. What are the postulated foreign bodies in this? Is this being researched currently? Perhaps Dr Wymore is examining such phenomena as S100 A12, (host response to Onchocerca Volvulus), as one example.
