The Vaccine is coming... how long is a good question.

Look at how long the process for phase I, II, and III takes. It will be at least five years before a decent vaccine is out. Herpevac might get clearance in a few years, and it is in Phase III right now. It only helps women who have not yet been infected, and it is only like 50% effective. It uses old vaccine technology of a non live virus, it is very safe... But should a person not have the choice to risk their life if they wanted to try a more experimental vaccine? I hate how our medicine system works in this country. We spend more than any other nation on health care, yet we rank 34'th in the world. What gives? I love the USA, but I realize that we are WAY far away from realizing the potential of our science. We shackle ourselves with monetary, societal, and superstitious hindrances.

I'm resigned to letting my insurance company pay THOUSANDS for my Valtrex or Famvir, and I realize that this is a perpetuation of the root problem... I pray that President Obama can begin to reform our decrepit, greedy, and corrupt medical system.
