While herpes is definitely a problem in our society, your opinion is reactionary and not helpful. Most adults have herpes (HSV-1) and contracted it in childhood. This form of the virus can be spread to the genitals and is in fact the primary variant of genital herpes in some populations. Go get the herpes Ig test and you'll probably be surprised. The virus has been completely sensationalized by drug companies' attempts to scare the population to buy their new antivirals. What is the real harm of the virus? Aside from the herpes encephalitis, a severe but not particularly common complication, it seems to me that stigma is the primary problem. Antivirals usually control outbreaks quite well and people live normal lives post-infection. In non-responsive cases, obviously the effect on every day life is greater. Your disgust and lack of understanding is a mark of your complete ignorance and propagates the stigma that has been unfairly marked upon people with this disease. I see no reason to try to further stigmatize the herpes positive people reading in this forum. Your silence would be appreciated at least until you learn more about the subject at hand.
