Well this is one good news about video games. I think they do promote sociability to some extend although this depends a lot of the kids. When it comes to mature people it's a whole different matter, games don't involve personal development risks, they are simply enjoyable. I play backgammon for five year now and I really enjoy this, it doesn't really affect me in any kind, plus I have a great community and it's easy to make friends.
