Is it possible to discuss

Submitted by Anonymous on Thu, 2006-02-16 17:19.

Is it possible to discuss this topic without resorting to platitudes and politically correct sloganeering? I certainly hope so.
The developed world is so steeped in the propaganda of poverty that it's unable to face the reality of it. All of the world's conferences on poverty accomplish virtually zip, nada, nothing. All talk, all propagandist slogans, all politically correct baby twaddle.
Growing up is so hard to do, facing facts, doing the hard thing.
Academics just want tenure and endless papers and conferences. Bureaucrats just want tenure and papers to rubber stamp. Journalists just want a story. Businesses want to make a profit. Governments want to stay in power and maximise their own take of corrupt proceeds. Where does solving poverty come into all that? Even rock groups and celebrities, well intentioned, yada yada yada, are just empty promises and BS.
Everybody knows the solution. Nobody has the courage to put it forward and make it work. Not politically correct, you know. You really don't care, do you?
